We booked a two bedroom apartment on the strength of the website for a couple of weeks in June 2007, being unable to find a review online. Fortunately this turned out to be a great decision and we had a wonderful stay. The booking process was formal, efficient and friendly, providing confidence that the owner was running a quality operation. We were met at the expected time just outside the apartment and shown the various attributes of the apartment as well as shown other useful information relating to the appliances, and local amenities. The photographs and description on the official website are a true reflection of the quality of the apartment, being recently renovated. The bathrooms have modern fittings of good quality, which is also true of the furniture. Some useful features were the washing machine, fitted hair dryer, and heated towel rail in the bathroom. The bathroom had a good quality shower, with plenty of hot water at high pressure with a large shower head. The bedrooms have firm, comfortable beds (which is a real pleasure to find as so often accommodation is let down by poor quality beds) as well as (in our apartment) electrically operated blinds which together provided for a great night's sleep. The cot provided for our 9 month old daughter was of good quality and comfortable. There is also a built in safe which is large enough to take phones, passports, wallets and so on, but not a laptop. Speaking of computers, the apartments come with unlimited 1MB wi-fi broadband included in the price, which is extremely convenient. Our apartment had a small balcony with the Croisette and sea visible just a block or two away. Downsides : None really. We enjoy cooking and would have appreciated a few more kitchen implements, perhaps a multi-purpose electric "wizzer", but we expect that most people do a more limited amount of cooking and therefore feel the kitchen is adequately stocked with cutlery and crockery for a typical stay. In our opinion the measure of an establishment is how they deal with any problems, and we were not disappointed. The air-conditioning failed to work when we needed it, and I sent an email to their representative at around 9:30PM and received a telephone call about 30 minutes later. The problem turned out not to be a failure at all : the air-conditioning had been set to heating by a previous occupant and just needed resetting to cooling. The matter was resolved by the next day, so 10 out of 10 for service. Getting there : We took the airport coach from Nice, which leaves you with a 10 minute walk to the apartment. Alternatives are a taxi from Nice Airport, or taking the bus or taxi to a train station in Nice and then the train to Cannes. If you are feeling adventurous, there is a domestic bus from Nice airport that travels through the seaside villages & towns, taking something over an hour costing Euro 1.30 each way. There is parking nearby, according to the official website, although we never investigated this as we didn't have a car. Given the extensive bus and train network, and the small size of Cannes, we feel a car would be more trouble than it is worth, unless you wanted to visit a number of inland spots not covered by public transport. The apartments are in a truly excellent location, being close to the Croisette, the train station at Rue Jeanes Jaures, a small supermarket (Petit Casino) on Rue du Commandant Andre, a Post Office on Rue Hoche, a bakery on Rue Chabaud, a large supermarket (Monoprix) at Rue Jean Jaures near the train station, and the Gare Routiere (bus station) being about 12 minutes walk at the corner of La Pantiero and Quai Saint Pierre. Finally, there is a cash machine directly opposite the apartments. The pedestrain street, Rue Meynadier, has some wonderful food shops including butchers, fish and cheese shops. Near the end of Rue Meynadier is a market, Marche Forville that sells fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, cooked meats and other deli products (excluding Mondays) ; this is also about 10 -15 minutes walk from the apartment. Both Monoprix and Supermarche Casino on Boulevard d'Alsace (near the roundabout where it meets Rue d'Antibes) offer a delivery service. Supermarche Casino offered a free delivery service for orders over 100 Euros which turned out to be very easy to arrange. Frozen foods are not permitted and there is a limit (I think it was 16) on the quantity of packs of mineral water that could be delivered. Despite a minimal level of French the delivery was easily arranged and the driver helped bring all the shopping up to the third floor. Beaches : The Croisette has a number of free public beaches all of which have white sand and blue water, and are about 3 minutes walk from the apartment. Endless miles of white sandy beaches are available between Cannes and Cannes La Bocca if you want a change from the Croisette. In summary, we thought the accommodation was centrally located, of very good quality, represented good value for money, and we would certainly stay there again. Enjoy!
